Billy T

Personality

Billy T. Is a Detroit radio pioneer. He started his career at WGPR 107.5 FM doing an overnight show called Billy T. in the D.M.Z. (def music zone) specializing in hip hop and house music. He was the first D.J. in Detroit to play hip hop on the radio and was also known for playing local Detroit rap and techno artists. He then went to WJLB FM 98 and with his partner T. J. did a show called The Rap Blast (also a groundbreaking show). While doing club nights and weekends at WJLB, Flint called and he made the drive up I-75 to do evenings at WDZZ FM. When legendary jazz station WJZZ flipped to hip hop and R & B he was once again called upon to be part of a historic change of format in Detroit radio at 105.9 FM. After the station was sold he then made the trip out west to Las Vegas, Nevada, where he did afternoon drive and became music director/program director at KCEP 88.1 FM. When that successful run ended he returned home to work once again at 105.9 KISS FM doing weekends and full time production manager for KISS and The Praise Network. Billy T. loves Detroit and the people of this city. It’s good to be home. He now does independent commercial production, and produces his own podcast and an online video show titled “Around the D with Billy T.”
